Allow us to introduce ourselves
Hi there and welcome! Thank you for visiting our website, come on in….oh and no need to take off your shoes (or wellies) we don’t mind a bit of mud!
Here at Regal it is safe to say that we know more about what we are selling….that’s top quality topsoil by the way….than we do about creating a website to sell it (and one which you can actually locate in the great vast land known as the internet!) But the fact you are here and reading this means you have found us (hooray!) which gives us the perfect opportunity to dish the dirt on who we are, what we sell and most importantly, see how we can help you.
So let me introduce ourselves…we are Mike and Lucy, the founders of Regal Aggregates Ltd. We are both “outdoorsy” types from agricultural backgrounds and understand the importance of soil to both farmers and gardeners alike. We recognise that good soil is vital and it is also vital we take good care of our soils – after all, it IS pretty amazing stuff! The thin layer of soil covering the earth’s surface is the difference between survival and extinction for most living things. As a Sanskrit text written in around 1500BC noted: “Upon this handful of soil our survival depends. Husband it and it will grow our food, our fuel and our shelter and surround us with beauty. Abuse it and the soil will collapse and die, taking humanity with it.”
Soil, on the scale of a human lifetime, is a non-renewable resource – it doesn’t appear by magic, it’s a very slow process; it forms through the slow physical, chemical, and biological weathering of bedrock and that weathering can take up to tens of thousands of years to form a mature soil. It takes a minimum of 500 years to form just one inch of topsoil!
We obtain our soil from good ol’ Yorkshire and ensure it is responsibly sourced. This is very important to us because soil IS important. As the old Chinese proverb says: “Man – despite his artistic pretensions, his sophistication, and his many accomplishments – owes his existence to a six inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains”.
Whether you’re a trainee Titchmarsh or an already dedicated Dimmock and you are in need of some good quality topsoil or advice (whatever your gardening project might be), please feel free to give our small, friendly, green thumbed team a call on 0800 888 6248 or drop us an e-mail at email@example.com
